Apparently, Keira Knightley had to refuse to allow the studio in charge of promoting her upcoming movie, “The Duchess” to digitally give her a…. well, “better” figure in the publicity photos. Yep. It’s come to that. An actress actually has to tell people not to digitally enhance her bust in photos. Hm.
Whatever happened to the [...]

Joy Comes In The Morning
Posted in Uncategorized on July 29, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
OK, maybe not “joy,” but this morning, there was comfort. It was much needed, as I only got about 5 hours of sleep – which probably will make me very cranky by about 2:30 this afternoon.
I got up, though, instead of hitting “snooze” 20 times. It was … nice. I took Tanner for a walk [...]
Other Weekend Notes

I finished my book for the book club over the weekend. It’s “Home to Harmony” by Philip Gulley. At amazon.com, it’s billed as, ”a simple book,” which it is. There are cute lines in it (my favorite: the pastor says, “I left for health reasons: I was sick of them, and they were sick of me”), but [...]

This was pretty funny. My sister (the card) sends me these things. I responded that in the event Obama wins the November election, this could be an actual news story, rather than just a cautionary tale.

Does It Really Matter?

I’ve been watching (sort of) Swingtown on Friday nights (mostly because I refuse to pay good money for cable or satellite that I can’t watch because I’m rarely home), and I have to say that, while I was initially a little intrigued by the return to the 70s, I also am sort of disturbed by [...]
Overheard Outside My Office
Posted in Uncategorized on July 22, 2008 | 8 Comments »
Law clerks in our office have cubicles – which happen to be right outside my office. So, sometimes I hear things. Like this:
“What time is your doctor’s appointment?”
“9:30″
“Why’d you make it so early?”
“I didn’t make it – my mom did.”
“Your mom still makes your doctor’s appointments?!?”
[Both speakers are over the age of 21.... The incredulity [...]
Weekend Report

Busy weekend, although not intentionally so.
Worked on Saturday – although, truthfully, there wasn’t a lot of actual “work” that got done. It was mostly putting things in order, as my secretary has been on vacation for the last week. I’m glad she got to go – they go up north every year, and I know that [...]

Good Things…..

Good thing my alarm clock has a battery back-up system. Good thing I heard the alarm this morning and actually woke up to realize that the power had gone out. Good thing I called the nearer of the two boarding kennel places where Tanner has visited. Good thing they had an opening. Good thing my [...]
Mea Culpa

OK, I feel like a total heel.
One of my friends from church called my cell phone during working hours, and I didn’t recognize the number so I answered it. Granted, I answered the cell phone during the day when I probably could have ignored it, but I thought it might be important.
It wasn’t …. exactly. [...]
