In Celebration of Waffles

(Photo from Emeril at FoodNetwork.com).
I bought frozen waffles at the store the other night – Belgian waffles instead of the usual “good for you” multigrain Eggos – and I wondered where waffles originated.
According to Wikipedia:
“The modern waffle has its origins in the wafers-very light thin crisp cakes, baked between wafer-irons-of the Middle Ages. Wafer irons [...]

Post-Christmas Meme

I got to tag myself on this one, courtesy of Miss Susie, and since Christmas is, well, over, I thought I would answer the questions in the hopes of formulating a better plan for next year:
1. Wrapping or gift bags? Both.  I’m not always the most creative on the actual wrappings, but I found some good deals on [...]

Christmas Bell

My oldest brother sent this to me this morning – it’s supposed to be in the shape of a bell, but since I’ve copied it from the email, the formatting didn’t translate the way it should have…. You can sort of see the outline from the right side.

Christmas Meme

Enola tagged me for this, so since I haven’t done a meme in a while, here goes:

TGIF!

Made it! I found this over at Kim’s – it’s funny, but when I think about each of the questions on this quiz, I wonder how other people can NOT hear the differences!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak “Standard English straight out of the dictionary” but [...]

Follow-Up

You may recall this earlier post identifying my personality type as INFP.  I’ve wondered how realistic those tests are, since (by nature) I try to identify whether there is any skew in the test questions to direct the taker to any given result.  If you look at test questions, particularly those intended to identify personality [...]

Tales From the Front

This  was subitted on a listserv I subscribe to that actually is not a family law listserv.  I’ve copied it verbatim:
“One of my family law friends just nailed an ex husband on sanctions for unpaid child support.  When the unhappy ex sent the check for the winning attorney’s court ordered fees,  he wrote in the [...]

OK, how bad does stress have to get for normal people before they do something about it?  Does tossing one’s cookies at 3:00 a.m. cross that threshold?
Why would I be experiencing that kind of stress?  Well, let’s see.  This afternoon at 4:00 p.m., I am going to participate in a telephone conference in which a [...]
